If you have any of these platforms, or an older release that you have updated, it is mandatory that you install 02.03.01 build 4 and then re-make your disaster recovery media. Centos 5.4 has just become available and is under test. It should be certified very soon. Note that starting with 02.03.01 build 2, RecoverEDGE supports theEXT4 filesystem. Remember to periodically check the Linux Support Tables on ourweb site to see which Linux distributions we've certified.

Section 6 of the User Guide, Configuring Disk-to-Disk backups, has been updated. The front of the section has a new table indicating compatibility with various USB and SATA fixed and removable hard disk products on different operating systems. Additionally, there are now sub-sections with specific storage device preparation examples for:
* 6.7 - Linux

The User Guide is also included in the media kit.
- Competitive Upgrades
In August 2009 separate SKUs were created for BackupEDGE upgrades:
MB2PUI - This is the new
- This is the newProduct Upgrade License. It is usedwhen upgrading an older 1.x release BackupEDGE to the current release, and when performing a cross-platform upgrade from one BackupEDGE 2.x supported platform to another. It includes one year of telephone support.
MB2CUI - This is the new
- This is the newCompetitive Upgrade License. It isfor those wishing to switch from retail copies of ARCserve, Arkeia, BRU, Lone-Tar, NetBackup, NetVault, TapeWare, Zmanda and similar products. ARCserve Lite, open source software and things that come free with tape drives or the operating system do not qualify. It also includes one year of telephone support, and costs more than the MB2PUI license, but still significantly less than a new retail license.
MB2UI combined upgrade licensesare no longer available, although un-registered in-stock licenses at dealers and distributors are still usable for either upgrade through December 31, 2009. After that, they must be exchanged for MB2PUI licenses or will be voided.
- The Next Generation
Our engineering team is hard at work on a next-generation BackupEDGE product.The next release will introduce significant new functionality into the product, and open up new markets. To accomplish this, some of the user interfaces have to change. We'll announce a beta program when we're ready to go, but we want everyone to understand that there will be a learning curve with the next release and to be prepared. It won't be more difficult to use. In fact parts will be simpler. But it will be different.
