NetControl chose the Digi Connect® WAN 3G cellular router for their NetCase on-board ticketing system. The Digi Connect WAN 3G provides a high-speed mobile connection for rapid, regular data transmissions.
Digi's XBee® and XBee-PRO® ZB embedded RF modules now feature Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI). Combined, these features lower development costs and reduce the time to market.

Featured Application -Using Wireless Networks for Maritime Safety-
Globe Electronics is a leader in maritime safety and the creator of the Sea Belt, an innovative man-overboard detection system intended for ships of all sizes located around the globe. Their design called for RF modules operating on a universal frequency to be embedded into transmitter units, creating a shipboard wireless network. Globe Electronics chose Digi's XBee 802.15.4 wireless modules because of their low power consumption, reliability and high-performance.
Globe Electronics' Sea Belt system works by constantly scanning the shipboard network for the presence of each crew member's transmitter unit. If a unit leaves the range of the network, the information is immediately sent to a RabbitCore® RCM4100 module which triggers a series of pre-determined actions, such as sounding an alarm, sending a distress signal and cutting the ship's motor.
